In Greek mythlogy, Hyacinthos was a boy loved by Apollo. Everything was fine and dandy until this other god Zephyrus, a wind god, decided that he was in love with Hyacinthos too. Out of jealousy, when Apollo and Hyacinthos were playing discus (frisbee, but with a heavy metal disc), Zephyrus blew it off course so that it hit Hyacinthos and killed him. In grief Apollo turned him into a flower... the hyacinth. Which is where we get the name.
in Elysium, he was also close friends with Ganymede, which really sucked for Gany when he died. As if the poor cupbearer needed another awful thing in his life.
(Also, yes, people did dye their hair in ancient Greek, it was totally possible. I looked it up.)

a brothers and sons compilation
As an astral projection, Phobetor is more or less fearless since he knows he's untouchable. (Just don't let Thanatos or Chal near his physical body, that could get ugly).
From left to right; #Chal, #Thanatos, #Hypnos, #Pho and #Icelos there peeking in the corner.

i wanted to draw mortal Ganymede and that meant I had to draw a little of his family
in case anyone's unaware Ganymede was a Trojan prince, he's like a great-great uncle of Priam of Trojan War fame. He had two older brothers who were mythologically very protective of him because he actually almost got kidnapped at LEAST once before Zeus snatched him. Ganymede was literally said to be the most beautiful person alive when he was alive.
His mother was also a nymph! A naiad named Callirhoe to be exact, which makes a lot of sense because goddamn Ganymede is so pretty it's clear to see he's got nymph-lineage running through him whoops
So I drew Callirhoe down there too. She's dead, though. She's a water nymph. There was a drought.

Soon Ganymede will be turning himself into a daemon to scare asshole Olympians into getting away from him
Normally or in "resting" position or whatever he looks like the image on the left, but Gany's design is based around the idea that while daemons like Epi and Wren are more predatory creatures, Ganymede's basically prey. There are animals in the wild that utilize different techniques to scare away their own predators-- puffing up, looking bigger, spiking up, false eyes, all sorts of things, so Ganymede's overall design is kinda based off of that concept. As you can see on the right, if provoked, all those features on him on the left quickly open up to freak out any weak-hearted Olympians poking at him. read: all of them
unsure of whether the extra two eyes on his stomach work or not, they're closed most of the time so uh
Since Gany's customizing himself as a daemon he isn't based off of one specific animal, and I don't think he'll be able to shift into a walk-on-all-fours-can't-speak-daemon like Wren and Epi are.
He is based strongly off of a bat though just bc i really like bats ugh
